The system consists of the following main elements:
RFID tags: At the time a car is entered in the inventory it is assigned a credit card sized RFID tag that is attached to the windshield by means of self sticking tape and a special plastic tag holder. At the time of the sale the tag is returned and can be re-used. Service department is provided with the "Service tags" that have a plastic hook that attaches to the rear view mirror. These RFID tags transmit their electronic ID every couple of seconds. Therefore as long as the signal is received - the system "knows" that the car is present in the certain area.
Employee’s personal RFID badges: All employees who are authorized to drive any of the dealer cars get a personal RFID badge (for test drives by salespeople or by mechanics). These tags are simply hung from the rear view mirror during the test drive and removed afterwards.
Readers: The entire facility is equipped with a network of RFID readers strategically located around the area and at specific entry/exit points. Each is equipped with the antenna specific to the coverage that the particular reader provides. All equipment that we use is FCC approved and presents no danger to people around. The amount of energy that the tag transmits is thousands times less then cellular or cordless phones.
Software: All the data collected is received and processed by the custom-designed software created with a unique knowledge of the needs of the real world automotive dealership. Program conveniently lays out a lot of data that will make the entire dealership operation much more efficient. System is web based. Any authorized user can get access to the system from any internet access point.
Real time location: System provides dealers with real-time location on all cars in inventory. Missing cars: System immediately identifies all vehicles missing from the lot.
Zone usage: System shows lot people the current "usage" of every zone, so they know where to park incoming inventory.
Inventory maintenance and management: System gives reports on all cars that have been sitting in the same spot for any more then certain period of time (like, say three weeks). This information will help personnel to manage and maintain the inventory on the lot.
Employee performance: System provides reports on employee performance. It shows the amount of test drives and their length for all salespeople.
Service department: System furnishes service department with rear-view mounted tags to easily identify where the car was parked after it has been serviced.
Security: System greatly enhances security. It gives instant notification to designated personnel of any "unauthorized" exit of the car from the lot after hours. It notifies when the tracked asset is missing. It practically allows the full physical real-time inventory check at the touch of the button.
Off-site sale: The "off-site" sale option is a portable tracking solution. It provides dealers running special "off-site" sale events with easily transportable and deployable tracking device. It instantly provides full coverage of the "tent sale". It ties-in all inventories that were taken from the main lot to the sale site.
Asset control: Special "asset control" tags are provided. They track and control all valuable and sensitive equipment (like laptops, special tools, etc), parts or any other items that sometimes "get legs" and walk away. Special tags are permanently attached to these items and identify any movement of the asset as well as send a signal if they are tempered with.
User friendly: System has convenient user interface that is simple to use. The additional amount of time that is needed to assign and place a tag on the car is less then 30 seconds. System gets updated with reports from your inventory management system like Reynolds and Reynolds or ADP.
Utility reports: System provides reports that show the battery status of all tags, so the replacements can be ordered on time. Average "life" of the tag is three to four years. It identifies all tags available and all tags missing.
System administration: The system administrator can dynamically give various access levels to different personnel and quickly change the notification addresses. Auto alarms can be set-up or turned on manually.
Efficiency: It drastically reduces the amount of time it takes to find a car. It greatly improves the ease of lot maintenance and inventory control.
